Our Team

Zach grew up in Minnesota just east of the Twin Cities. He came to Montana and got a B.S. in Accounting and is currently working on his M.S. in Accounting at MSU. He got involved in Cru early in his college career and enjoys discipling younger students and serving on the worship and tech teams. He has been attending E-Free since the fall of 2017. Outside of the church, Zach enjoys hiking, camping, spending time with friends, and studying for the CPA exams.

Kyle Blackmore

Kyle has been married to his lovely wife Winter since 2007. He has three wonderful children named Kaleb, Kasey, and Kaiya. During his downtime he loves to build and collect Lego… and spend time with his family.

Jill Butte

Jill is passionate about seeing growth and learning take place in the lives of young children as they learn more about Jesus, themselves, others and our world. She enjoys building relationships with families and knows the importance of teamwork, not only with parents but also with teachers during this critical early learning stage. Jill and her husband Kevin and their two daughters Kylie and Isla enjoy skiing the cold smoke, camping in Glacier National Park, and traveling to see family.

Aaron Canen

Aaron was raised in Glendive, MT where he met his wife, Mara. They were married in the Glendive church he grew up in, where his father served as pastor. He and Mara studied at Montana State University, where Aaron received his Bachelor’s degree in Music Technology. Aaron has a passion for facilitating the intersection of art and technology. He also works for the Montana State Library as Systems Administrator.

Darren Carlson

Darren has been at E-Free since January 2021. Darren is the Founder and President of Training Leaders International, a ministry that provides theological training to underserved and undertrained areas around the world. He is the Executive Producer and creator of Jesus in Athens, a movie telling the story of the work of God in midst of a refugee crisis in Athens. He is an above average fly fisherman, an average hunter, and a terrible golfer. He enjoys coaching basketball and baseball. He writes on occasion for The Gospel Coalition and Desiring God Ministries. He and his wife Amy have 5 children.

Carol has been married to her husband Blaine for over 30 years.  Since Blaine is a Bozeman native, it was an easy decision to return to Montana after living in Yemen and Saudi Arabia for 22 years.  It was during this time in the Middle East that Carol and Blaine’s faith grew, and they found a calling in serving others through missions and fellowship.  Carol and Blaine have been members at E-Free for two years and have two grown children–Alec and Katie.  Carol enjoys the newfound freedom of living in the U.S. again, the outdoors, pickleball, and traveling.

Paul Elias

Originally from Billings, MT, Paul now lives in Bozeman after finishing school at MSU. Paul is responsible for the musical development of our church worship teams. His desire for our church is that every person that comes through our doors would be able to experience true, gospel-inspired worship. He loves music, sports, and the outdoors.

Dan Miller

Dan’s life has been significantly impacted by a number of men who have invested themselves in his life over the years. Because of these experiences, Dan is passionate about helping others become biblical disciple makers. He has been married to his best friend Cora for over 30 years and they have two adult children who are married. Dan enjoys a variety of outdoor adventures: hiking, camping, backpacking, skiing, fly-fishing, hunting, and competitive shooting.

Kirsten Stewart
Kirsten serves as the Women’s Discipleship Director where she leads women as they grow as disciples who make disciples. Kirsten is passionate about meeting with and encouraging women of all ages and stages through E-Free, Montana State University, and around the community to grow as disciples, serve their community around them, and share the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ with others. Kirsten and her husband, Tobin, and 3 kids – Elijah, Samuel, and Lydiana – and love any opportunity to be outdoors hiking, mountain biking, or skiing.
