PRAYER - ENCOURAGING RELATIONSHIP WITH CHRIST JESUS

God’s Word challenges and encourages us to train our youngest warriors in God’s kingdom to live the reality of communion with Him as we journey through uncertain times. This session applies to students of all ages.

Robby Lynn Playle has been in full-time ministry with her husband, Jason, in Montana, Wyoming and Florida. Her teaching ministry has been in Sunday School, Children’s church, AWANA, mid-dle and high school youth. Robby Lynn’s delight is to know that she and Jason have had an influ-ence over the past three decades instilling a de-sire in many to have an intimate relationship with Christ Jesus.

KEEPING IT CONCEPTUAL

It’s Monday morning and you are beginning preparations for your next Sunday school lesson. The problem is that you are having difficulty keeping all the facts straight: “Which of David’s brothers were in the army with Saul?” “Was Eliab the oldest or was it Shammah?” “How many cheeses did he take to the Capitan?” It crosses your mind that if you’re having a hard time, what chance do your students have? It is a great question; so what should you do about it?

During this session, we will learn that God has given us a conceptual brain and has written His scripture with conceptual structures. We will learn the power of conceptual understandings: for building knowledge, for developing reflective thinking, and for life connection and application. Once we have our own conceptual understand-ing, we will work though a simple “how to” that you can begin to implement next Sunday!

Gus Nollmeyer graduated with honors from MSU and taught students in 3rd-6th grade for 10 yrs. Gus then discovered the Highly Effective Teach-ing (HET) method. After attending many training sessions and receiving personal coaching, Gus has modeled his teaching for educators at HET conferences. In 2009, Gus opened The Center of Discovery teaching summer camps and a wide variety of classes to students schooled at home. Gus is currently pursuing a Doctorate degree in education at MSU.

CLASSROOM CHAOS OR ORDER

How do you handle the kids who are acting out? Some are so boisterous, craving any kind of attention positive or negative. Others are so quietly shy and would rather not say anything. How do you deal with the first without scaring the others? It’s not an easy task, nor can anyone claim complete success, but there are some methods you can learn that may be of help to you in this area.

There are as many ways to begin a school year or a Sunday school class as there are teachers. But I don’t know any teacher who has not had a problem with class control. Join the discussion and let’s bring order to the chaos.

Art Turner, a sailor from New Jersey, was a teacher for 35 years in public elementary schools. His varied experiences include teach-ing fourth and fifth grades, teaching computer lab for 1-6 grades, as well as gifted and tal-ented education for students K-6. He also has Adult education experience including small group home studies, Sunday school classes, and public school workshops on a variety of topics. Art enjoys the surf and the sand im-mensely but also loves ice skating and X-country skiing. He is recently married to Ann!

LEADING WORSHIP FOR KIDS

How and why is worship important? Is authentic-ity more important than excellence? Why does music even matter, isn't teaching the Bible enough? In this session, we will answer questions about leading worship for kids. Gaining an under-standing of the role of worship in children's minis-try will encourage you to incorporate more wor-ship and less singing into your Sunday mornings. No music ability or involvement is needed to at-tend this class.

Scott Brownson has been in youth ministry for 13 years. EMPOWER OUR YOUTH TO REACH OUT AND CARE

Our children are not just our future leaders; they can be leaders and world changers right now through involvement in YEWTHS ROC (Youth Empowered With The Helper Spirit Reach Out and Care). From preschool to high school, students are discovering that they can change the world one life at a time by using their God-given gifts and talents. Our youth long to be a valuable part of something big. It’s time to equip and empower them to change their world. In this session you will learn about the YEWTHS ROC program and its successful impact. Discover how the arts, wheelchair building, social education, entrepreneurship and mission trips join together with Kingdom values and God’s love to transform lives.

TWENTY WASTED HOURS

Your children and the children you teach in a Sunday school class are precious. Time is precious. We can’t afford to waste time . . . our time . . . their time.

It’s not enough to tell students to “believe in Jesus,” teach a quick moral lesson, and fill the majority of the minutes with fun and games. We must demonstrate and commu-nicate clearly and convincingly what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. Faith that is not rooted deeply in the love and knowledge of God and His amazing Word will falter in the storms and attacks our children face con-tinually in a post-Christian society.

Don’t waste another hour! In this session we will seek to encourage and challenge one an-other along these lines. Time is running out!!

Ann Ward-Turner has loved her ministry to children for almost forty years. Her B.A. is in Christian Education while most of her teach-ing experience has been within the church. She and her late husband, Ron, served in pastoral ministry in Montana churches and together taught a class at Montana Bible Col-lege. In 2009 Ann went on a short-term mis-sion trip to teach Wycliffe missionary chil-dren in Cameroon, Africa. On that trip, she met Art Turner, and a year and a half later, they were married. Ann is presently teaching a course at Montana Bible College, Teaching Children, with the hope of inspiring a new generation of committed Bible teachers.

CHILD HOMELESSNESS IN THE LAST BEST PLACE

Are you aware that families with children are the fastest growing group of homeless in the nation? Did you know that 1 in 45 children in the U.S. are homeless? In our local community over 80 homeless families – including 144 chil-dren, 72 of whom were ages 5 and under–have already received help from Family Promise of Gallatin Valley.

The Bible has hundreds of references about helping the poor. This workshop will give teach-ers a better understanding of child homeless-ness, the impacts it has on a child’s life, and ways that mission can happen right here in the classroom and the local community.

Gloria Edwards is the Executive Director of Family Promise of Gallatin Valley, an interfaith program that helps homeless families with chil-dren. She has been the director since the non-profit organization was founded in 2006. Gloria has a Master of Social Work degree and approx. 30 years experience in human services. Prior to her work at Family Promise, she was the director of Victim Services for Gallatin County for 13 years. Before that, she worked in child protection services and in the field of child abuse prevention. Gloria has been mar-ried for 34 years and has 2 grown children and 2 grandchildren.

CREATION CARE

We as Christians are given great privilege in caring for God’s creation. In Genesis 1:27-30, God gives directives to Adam and Eve on His provision for his people. As believers, we are called to steward all that God gives us, including the environment. Students can be taught from a young age to understand God’s design of the world and how they too can treasure God’s plan and steward it well.

Kelly Krueger is the Minister of Youth and Children at Dry Creek Bible Church. She has a BA in Biblical and Theological Studies from Bethel University and a Master of Divinity from Bethel Seminary. She is passionate about youth and children, that they know Jesus Christ as their Savior and receive proper Biblical instruction and make their faith their own. When she is not working, she can be found on the ski slopes or in the great outdoors hunting, fishing, camping, hiking…

SOOTHING SEPARATION ANXIETY

How can we help the child who is shy, anxious, and reluctant to feel comfortable and join in our classroom activities? This course will focus on how to deal with separation issues in toddlers us-ing evidence based techniques Lynn discovered to help her own daughter. Lynn will present these effective techniques that teachers can use to guide the toddler and their parent’s through this difficult time.

Lynn McHann received her bachelor’s degree from MSU in Education Health and Human Develop-ment with a Family Science emphasis. She is a specialty trainer for the Center on Social and Emo-tional Foundations for Early Learning (CSEFEL) courses. Lynn teaches courses for providers of Gallatin Valley through Child Care Connections for advance and continuing education. She lives in Belgrade with her husband Jason and daughters Kayla (15) and Piper (3).
