The Board of Elders is primarily responsible for the spiritual oversight of the church and are recognized by the congregation to act in this capacity. These men serve as the elders for E-Free Church, in alphabetical order by last name:
Terry and his wife Dana started attending Bozeman E-Free Church when they moved to the Gallatin Valley in 2000. Terry and Dana have been involved in leading small groups and helping with the Welcome Center. Terry is currently a software engineer at Zoot Enterprises. Terry’s spiritual gifts are in the area of teaching and shepherding and he uses these gifts in the role as an elder. Terry and Dana have been married for 40 years and have 3 grown children.
Craig has served on the elder board for the past 12 years and also enjoys filling in on the worship team. One of his main hopes is that E-Free can be a place where people get “healthy” spiritually, and then are discipled to obey God and see His Kingdom flourish around them. Craig is employed at a local environmental engineering firm, and enjoys anytime he can get to a lake or stream. He also has a passion for “putting on the stripes” in the fall as high school football referee. He is married to Valerie, and they have three children ranging from mid-teen to early twenties.
John has been an elder at EFCB since 2015 and has been attending E-Free for nearly 35 years, serving in numerous roles. He is currently the Team Leader for the E-Free Staff. He is passionate about personal growth and is currently discipling/mentoring a number of men. John works at Montana State University in a master’s degree program for science educators. He and his wife Susanna have 5 adult children and 8 grandchildren. John loves living in the Bozeman area and can be found in the backcountry skiing, hiking, biking…often with his grandson or other guys from church.
Jim is the Lead Teaching Pastor, primarily responsible for the areas of pastoral ministry, biblical teaching and providing directional leadership for the church. His greatest joy is communicating God’s Word to God’s people and seeing the gospel transform people. He enjoys dates with his wife Kim, hiking in Montana’s mountains, photography and cheering for the MSU Bobcats and the St. Louis Cardinals. Jim and Kim have been married for over 35 years and they have seven children and eight grandchildren.
Jim has a Financial Planning Firm located in Bozeman and carries that work into his ministry at E free as a member of the Finance Team and board member of Selah ministries. His hope and prayer is to see people in good and bad times see real and continued transformation in Christ and then to see it passed on and on and on…. He is a little nuts about anything outdoors (except golf) and enjoys diving, riding his horses, hunting, fishing, camping and hanging out by the fire pit with friends. Jim is married to his Minnesota-turned-Montana bride, Irene.
Mick graduated from MSU’s College of Business in 1969. He was a Navel Flight Officer until 1974. Mick has attended E-Free Church for over 40 years and has served on several non-profit boards. He has a passion for discipling and mentoring younger men challenged by our secular culture’s message of “it’s all about me”. Mick is currently working with a local Raymond James Financial services office. Mick enjoys skiing, golf, fishing, reading and anything associated with Bobcat football. He and Kate have 6 children and 8 grandchildren.
Brian has been an elder at EFCB since June of 2012. He is passionate about discipleship and is actively in discipling a dozen or so individuals. Brian works (remotely) for Synergy Sports Technology, LLC. Prior to working at Synergy, Brian was a collegiate men’s basketball coach for 18 seasons at Montana State University, Loyola Marymount University, Eastern Washington University and the University of Washington. He, and his wife, Kristen have four children: Anna, Maya, Sara and John. Brian loves golf, fantasy football and moonlights as the radio color commentator on MSU men’s basketball broadcasts.
Jeremy and his wife Katie started attending E-Free Church shortly after moving to Bozeman in 2008. He then opened his orthodontic practice in 2009. Jeremy has worked with Cru and worked in campus ministry in Siberia. Jeremy and Katie have been married almost 16 years and have 5 children. Throughout their marriage they have enjoyed working in various ministries in the churches and communities they’ve been involved in including discipleship, missions and Children’s Ministries. Jeremy loves the outdoors including hiking, hunting and anything to do with animals.
